Sick, really sick Windows Phone 8.1 home screens

As I wrote the smartphone recommendation story, I was struck again by the beauty of the Windows Phone 8.1 home screen.  So today’s post was meant to be dedicated to the better looking Windows Phone 8.1 home screens.

That was the idea anyway.

Until I realized the sickest designs I’ve ever seen were put together by one person: Live Art Guy.

You should know that as a kid I was a huge comic book fan.  Incredible Hulk #180 and Sandman #1 are among my most prized possessions.  Well, if you’re a comic book fan, you’re going to love what this guy did.

And probably my favorite of the bunch:

You can do everything you see above on your own — Live Art Guy used only two apps:

Custom Tile Maker – which is the best app I’ve found to pin images to my home screen, because of the endless tile combinations and the fact that it provides both 2 column and 3 column setups. The catch is that the basic tile setups are free, but you’ll need to pay to unlock the rest.

Transparency Tiles – is an extremely useful app when you need to turn those pesky purple Nokia tiles or blue Here tiles into ones the same colour as your ‘theme’ or transparent ones if you’re using Windows 8.1

Get more tips here and here.

I hope you’re as impressed as I am.  Windows Phone has gone from interesting, different and functional in WP7 to just outright beautiful in WP8.1.

Enough for me to purchase a Windows Phone?  If I wasn’t an app entrepreneur and didn’t need to carry both an iPhone and Android phone, yeah, for this,  I just might.

If I was Microsoft I would be promoting the heck out of these designs.
